AAA Cards Game #116 – 4th Birthday

Hello and welcome! I’m here with a birthday celebration for AAA Cards.

If you are participating in our blog hop then should have landed here from Maaike’s blog.

Check out our fabulous set of generous sponsors.

Thank you to all our wonderful sponsors.

Special tips for competing (and being eligible to win) in this game:

  1. As always, we’re looking for Clean and Simple (CAS) greeting cards.
  2. As always and for all of our games our definition of Clean and Simple means that white space should not be patterned, embossed or textured.

Here’s my birthday card using some of one of sponsor’s, STAMPlorations, products.

I recycled a bird mask for this card. I used it on 2 other cards that you have seen here before.

I love finding interesting ways to recycle masks. I wanted to increase the number of male-friendly cards in my stash and the bird seemed to fit the bill.

I simply added a die cut panel to the card base and adhered the ombré die cut ‘birthday’ for the bird to perch on. I stamped ‘happy’ and was finished.

I hope that you enjoyed visiting today and hope that you’ve been inspired to join in the birthday bash.

Don’t the 3 birds fit nicely on that fun elephant’s back?

Stencil Sunday – November 19, 2017 – Pumpkin Table Decoration

Hi! I’m here with a quick post for today’s STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday.

I have a pumpkin table decoration to share with you today.

I used the ARTplorations Flourishes stencil to decorate my already painted pumpkin.

(Please see the “P.S.” at the bottom of this post for details on how to make the pumpkin.)

I also used STAMPlorations Something to be Thankful for – Typografia Thankful and CUTplorations Pierced Curly Frames/Tags Nesting Dies to make the attached tag.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you stop over and check out my Design Teammates’ super creations!

P.S. Would you like to know how to make the pumpkin itself? My friend, Ashley, made this one. She works at a local lumber yard and building supply store, S. W. Collins.   S.W. Collins recently sponsored an “Ladies Night” where Ashley and her co-workers provided several crafts and refreshments.  I attended the event (so fun!) and painted a pumpkin that had been cut and glued together. I would like to thank Jason, Ashley and all of the employees at S.W. Collins for their generosity and hospitality.

Please see the attached link below for where Ashley got the original idea.

Here are Ashley’s Instructions:
Materials:

Pine Board: 1X4X6 is the size I used the most.
Wood Glue (I used Titebond Fast setting)  or Hot Glue
Sanding Paper- 220 Grit
A Stick
Paint- The tutorial I saw used spray paint, but any paint suitable for
wood will work!
Ribbon

Instructions:

Measure and cut the wood. I started out with a 3″ piece and did 1″
increments up to 6″ and then back down to 3″. (3″, 4″, 5″, 6″, 5″, 4″,
3″) I played around with these measurements a lot to get various sized
pumpkins. (4″, 5″, 6″, 5″, 4″ was another one I used a lot).

Then sand down the corners and any rough edges of the wood.

Starting with the smallest piece, glue each of the cut pieces of wood
together. Allow to dry for a minimum of 30 minutes before you do
anything more to the pumpkin.

Once the pumpkin is dry, you can paint it!

After the paint dries then secure the stick to the top for the stem and
tie it off with a ribbon!
