Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge – February 2017 – Dies

Hello! I’m very excited to be here with you for our second HLS Watercolor Challenge.

As always at Happy Little Stampers’ challenges……..we have a prize for you!

We would like to extend a huge welcome to our Guest Designer, Ingrid!

Here’s my card:

img_4005_edited-1

I used the emboss-resist technique to create a panel with heart stamps, clear embossing powder and….

Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi 24-Color Painting Set

Then, I did some die-cutting with a heart die and then inlaid some CUTplorations ‘hugs’ word dies. I matted the hearty, huggy heart by attaching it with foam tape to a white square of cardstock. The white embossed hearts make me think of the “Os” in “XOXO”. So this is a “hugs & kisses” hearty card. Don’t you think?

img_4015_edited-1Next, I made another rainbow panel to frame the white panel and attached the entire thing to a white square card base.

I

the finished card with it!

😉 img_4011_edited-1

What do you think? Is this a Cleaned and Layered card? I’d like to play along at The Card Concept #66: Love & Romance.

img_4004_edited-1

Lots of white…… hugs, hearts, the card and a rainbow heart and panel peeking out?! Oooo. I like it!

img_4013_edited-1My teammates and I are excited to begin this new year with a fun new monthly challenge and by the number of you who played along last month, we think that you will enjoy it too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Winter 2016 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop – Stacked Cups

Hi! I’m here with a card for the 2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!!!!

To start, I printed a free stacked cups image from Beyond the Fringes Crafts. 🙂 Thanks for the free digi, Carmen!

slide01

I also printed the image onto removable mailing label and cardstock, then I fussy cut the images out. I also created a mask and then sponged on the silvery-gray shadow of the cups onto the background, to the left of the cups.slide02

Here’s a closer look at the “shadow” that I sponged on:slide03

I  fussy cut the sticky cups apart and then sponged on different Christmassy colors. Then, to add some rigidity, I restacked the sticker cups onto the cardstock stack of cups. I made the curls by stamping and heat embossing with my prize stamp from the Fall CLBH!

I love this gorgeous background STAMP!

Curls Background Builder Cling Rubber Stamp

I added gold to some of the swirls with a glass pen. I stamped the curly-swirly, steamy background with the JVD Curls background stamp too.

Thanks, Jillian! I love this stamp and have designed 2 more cards for the Winter CLBH with it. slide01

I designed my own “stacked” sentiment (see the bottom right below) and printed it onto vellum.

You are welcome to print some of these for your own use. 🙂slide1slide02Thanks for stopping by!

Grace, Peace & Merry Christmas,

Melissa

Mixed Media Challenge + Stencil Sunday – December 2016 Mini Calendar

Hi!  I’m very happy to be here with as a member of the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Design team with a project for Stencil Sunday and the December Mixed Media Challenge.

Remember to add the following challenge graphic to your post in order to be eligible for the prizes each month.
The winner will receive a $15 STAMPlorations gift certificate or 2 ARTplorations stencils. And the top picks receive an ARTplorations stencil of their choice.

Here’s a mini calendar page that I made using the ARTplorations stencils

Dots All Over and Flourishes.img_3597_edited-1

The calendar measures approximately 5 3/4″ x 8 3/4″ or 14.5 x 22.25 cm matted.

  1. First I heat embossed the flourishes in silver.
  2. I sponged on red ink over the silver embossing.img_3583_edited-1img_3598_edited-1
  3. Next, I stenciled red embossing paste through the Dots All Over stencil onto silver foil cardstock..
  4. I matted the red and silver flourishes panel with white linen cardstock.img_3583_edited-1

img_3587_edited-15. I designed the little calendar as a word document and printed it onto white cardstock. It measures about 4″ x 2 1/4″ or 4 cm x 5.75 cm.img_3586_edited-1

6. I decorated the calendar by sponged red ink through the Dots All Over stencil, added some silver gel pen accents and inked the edges of the calendar by swiping it across a red ink pad and then attached it with foam tape.

7. I matted the entire project with linen cardstock stenciled with the flourishes stencil in red.img_3594_edited-1

I had a lot of fun creating this calendar page and I hope that you have been inspired to create your own mixed media projects! I’d be very glad to have you join us for the mixed media challenge this month. I’m so excited to be here with you and I can’t wait to see what you make!

Please remember that this is not a card challenge…it’s anything BUT a card.  🙂

To be sure that you’re eligible for the prizes each month, please create a mixed media project, add a link to the challenge and also remember to show the Mixed Media challenge graphic. Please check out what the rest of the design team has made here.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Little Stampers October 2016 Mixed Media Challenge – Nature

Hi! I’m very happy to be here with you today with a card for Happy Little Stampers October Mixed Media Challenge.

Our  challenge:

Here’s my card using Happy Little Stampers Thinking of You, Everyday Sentiments, Butterfly Birthday:

img_1883_edited-1

Although this is a mixed media card, I wanted to keep it on the clean side and allow the beauty of the fern shine. So, I made the white space left behind by the embossing be my focal point. While the warm colors may be vibrant, I think the fern remains the star and are complimented by the HLS products.

img_1378_edited-1

How I made this card:

  1. I created my background by stamping in embossing ink with a live fern.
  2. I then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.img_1380_edited-1 3. I then added Brushos (in brilliant red, scarlet and yellow) and used spray starch and plastic/cling wrap to add some bright color to the panel.img_1395_edited-1

4. After the panel dried, I stamped with the script block stamp from HLS’ Thinking of You. img_1898_edited-1

5. Then I framed the panel with black card stock.

6. I created the card base and before attaching the panel I randomly stamped a butterfly from Butterfly Birthday  around the edges of the card base with light yellow ink.

img_1874_edited-17. I also stamped and heat embossed a butterfly onto gold vellum. img_1897_edited-18. I fussy cut the butterfly, but I could have used my HLS Butterfly Dies.

img_1875_edited-2

  9. I stamped the sentiment, using the “Happy” and “Anniversary” stamps from Everyday Sentiments. img_1875_edited-110. I heated embossed the “Happy” in gold embossing powder on black card stock.img_1896_edited-111. I fussy cut the ‘Happy’.

12. I assembled the different pieces onto my card base.

img_1899_edited-1

I enjoyed making this card very much and hope you enjoyed this post.

So?! Are you excited to join in with our Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media challenge?!

Thanks for stopping by!
