Thankful

I finally had the courage to look at all the wonderful cards people from all over the continent and the world made for Melissa. I’m humbled at the beauty and the creativity, the sentiments and the prayers and encouragement. Needless to say, I spent most of the time with tears in my eyes as I reviewed all of them. I am amazed at the close knit community that has been created through the internet and how people can have true feelings for someone they never met.  I’m thankful on this day for thankfulness for everyone who took the time to send us messages of hope, solace, compassion and peace.

Where the cards came from:

California, Missouri, New Mexico, India, Washington St., Michigan, Germany, Austria, Virginia, Oregon, England, Canada, New Jersey, Georgia, Florida, Texas and Pennsylvania.

Blessings to all of you.

STAMPlorations Mixed Media Tutorial – October 2018

Hi! Melissa here with a fun twist on a way to use a cover plate die. I used the CUTplorations Dragonfly Cover Plate Die as a sort of stencil for today’s tutorial. I have used the Bloomtangled #1 Cover plate die in the same way previously.

When I used this technique in the past, I promised to explain it in a tutorial. See the above photo of a card that I made with Bloomtangled cover plate die and a similar stamp press/printing technique.

Go on over to the STAMP blog to check out the full tutorial.

Here’s a coupon for 20% off at the STAMPlorations shop.slide1_edited-1I hope that you have a great day.

You’ll see that I used both the positive & negative die cuts to create 2 cards. One for the original challenge post &  this one for the reminder for this month.
For this card today, I used the ARTplorations stencil Rows of Hearts with Brusho Colour Crystals.
After adhering the rainbow of teapots, I applied Smooch Spritz over the entire card front.  I also used the CUTplorations Hello Word Die.
Thanks for stopping by!

AAA Cards Challenge #126 – Moonlight

I’m here for AAA Cards Game #117.- Geometrics.

Special tips for competing (and being eligible to win) in this game:

  1. As always, we’re looking for Clean and Simple (CAS) greeting cards (very minimal layers and embellishments, not textured cardstock), BUT for this game please make sure to use the theme of “moonlight” as the focal point of your card.
  2. As always and for all of our games our definition of Clean and Simple means that white space should not be patterned, embossed or textured.

Our sponsor for this game is:Uniko

Here’s my card using a favorite, Uniko’s Background Builders: Squared.

For this CAS card,  I kept it CAS by:

1. Minimized Layers: made it a mostly 1-layer card – I added a second layer with the sentiment.

2. Consolidated my images. Clustering images together keeps the card clean.

3. White space. Left at least 1/2 of the card unaltered – plain, smooth card stock (even though colored) keeps my card CAS.

4. Mostly monochromatic. I used white, silver and blue as color palette.

I used a home made circle stencil and sponged on the “moon” in white/craft ink. I used a Uniko stamp to add a textured-like pattern to the moon and “moonlight” to the card front. Did you know that the top left and most of the bottom parts of my blue card front, because it is not textured and left unaltered, is considered “white space?”

Check out AAA Cards definition of “WHITE SPACE.” Colored card stock is great, but not patterned, embossed or textured.

Make sure you stop by AAA Cards and visit all of my design teammates’ blogs.

I hope that you enjoyed your visit. Thanks for stopping by!
