I’m Melissa Dawn Lane.
Jesus follower.
Happy wife of 22 years to my best friend, Chris. We were high school sweethearts and just passed our 28-year dating anniversary. 🙂
I’m mother to four fun and wonderful kids. S (20), I (17) H (14) and A (12). I’m also the daughter/dil of two sets of incredibly special parents. (Check out my father’s Facebook Page here or one of his online galleries here or here.) I’m a Home Educator to my 4 children and have a B.S. in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
Melissa, the name, comes from the Greek word μέλισσα, “honey bee.” I have read that, in Ireland, it is sometimes used as a feminine form of the Gaelic male name Maoilíosa, which means “servant of Jesus”.
I like that.
My life is full of beauty. For many years I have loved gardening and photography.
I’d be remiss if I forgot to mention cooking and organizing things. I love to cook and organize! Over the past 20 years, I have gardened, photographed, cooked and organized in many places around world as a military wife.
Chris and I are originally from the state of Maine in the U.S.A. (Ayuh!) and have lived in New Mexico (1995-1998), New Jersey, Massachusetts, Turkey, Germany (Ramstein area from 2007-2010), New Mexico (2010-2012), Belgium and Germany (Stuttgart area – 2014-currently). Moving has been a big part of my life since 1990! My husband and I are moved into out 12th house just after our 20th Wedding Anniversary.
Wherever I might be in the world, some tried and true pass times have brought me great joy. Things like a good Bible study, growing a garden, photographing creation, learning to cook new and delicious ethnic foods or even creating beauty out of chaos (whether it be a sock drawer or spice cabinet) are familiar and comforting consistencies in my ever changing world. Work and hobbies add beauty to life. Wouldn’t you agree?Recently, I have discovered a new
hobby passion. In 2012, my friend, Cindy, introduced me to card making, also known as “stamping”. I’m so glad she did. I love the world of paper crafting! If you would like to see where I have been crafting recently, please go here to see a tour of my craft space.
“Honeybeelane” is my blog dedicated to all things card making. I’d be very happy to have you follow my Honeybee Lane Pinterest Board.
If you’re interested, you can find some of my first blogged about cards (prior to January 2015) over at my other blog, here at Lanes in the Promised Land.

Melissa, just wanted to say thanks for the heads up about the Honourable Mention at Virginias View and congrats to you too for your Honourable Mention. Nice surprise hey!! Just so you know when you comment you are a ‘no reply blogger’ so people if they don’t check will click on reply, type it and send, unaware that the email goes into cyber space and you never get it. Apparently a conflict with Bloglovin . Hugs Aileen

Such beautiful cards! I like the simplicity of them (though I know they are anything but simple to do). Thanks for visiting The Glasgow Gallivanter.

Hi Melissa, thank you for your comments on my fishy card, in reply to your request about the stamp, it was free with Creative Stamping magazine which has an A4 sheet of free stamps with each issue, I don’t know if it is available in USA

Thanks, Joan! I currently live in Germany. I’m pretty sure they don’t have it here, but I found the stamp set on Amazon. Walmart also carries it online too. 🙂
