I have 2 cards to share with you today.

For this 1srt card, I stamped the ‘cup with steam’ image (see here for how I made this stamp)

in my favorite Hero Hues blue dye ink onto white linen cardstock.

slide005

Then, I sponged teal ink onto the entire linen panel, over the stamped image.  Next, I die cut the ‘thanks’, matted the panel in blue and attached the teal card base.slide005For this next card, I repeatedly stamped the image onto watercolor paper.

slide002

Then, I sponged the same teal ink onto the entire watercolor panel, over the stamped images.  Next, I die cut the ‘thanks’, from blue cardstock twice, stacked the ‘thanks’ and attached a blue card base.

slide004slide002As I mentioned last week, I needed to increase the number of masculine cards in my stash, so I took this opportunity to make 2 more. To make both of these cards, first, I created a homemade foam stamp, using a die, and stamped the cup with steam.

I used the CUTplorations die to make my stamp.CUTplorations-coffeecup-preview

I have a fun discount code for you! Shery, of STAMPlorations, has generously given me a code to share with you.

Use COUPON code STAMPGIRLMELISSA and receive 20% OFF at STAMPlorations!

slide006This technique was inspired by Jennifer McGuire in one of her recent videos on how to stretch your supplies.

slide004

I’d like to play this multi-cup card at  WAW Anything Goes – Challenge Weeks #264-265.

I am also offering this card up for CASEing at Chasing Mojo with Sweet Kobylkin:

I had a lot of fun using this technique. I loved how the homemade stamp printed the images. I hope you enjoyed your visit and look forward to seeing you next week.

Thanks for stopping by!

Grace & Peace,

Melissa

P.S. Here’s the coupon code again. There’s no expiration, as long as I’m a STAMPlorations Girl, this code will be valid.

Coffee Loving Cardmakers: January Guest Designer – January 6, 2017

https://i0.wp.com/coffeelovingcardmakers.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/GuestDesignerSlider.jpg

Hi! I’m very happy to be with you today with a post as the January Guest Designer for Coffee Loving Cardmakers!

Want to warm up with some tea? I love me a BIG cup of tea, especially on a day like today. It was 16°F (that’s about -9°C, right?)  when I checked the temperature this morning! BRRRRR! You’d never know that I grew up in Maine!

index

I’ve become a WEATHER WIMP! I’d better toughen up because my family and I are moving back to Maine this Spring!

Anyway, nothing like warm tea on a COLD day!

slide007Thanks so much, Amy, for inviting me!

🙂

I have 4 (+ 1 = 5) CAS cards to share with you today. slide011

I’d be very happy if you’d like to……

slide001I’d like to play this red version along at FUSION. I flipped the sketch and used the photo for inspiration too. Happy 3rd Anniversary!

I decided that I needed to increase the number of masculine cards in my stash, so I took this opportunity to do so.

I used the CUTplorations die to make my stamp.CUTplorations-coffeecup-preview

I have a fun discount code for you! Shery, of STAMPlorations, has generously given me a code to share with you.

Use COUPON code STAMPGIRLMELISSA and receive 20% OFF at STAMPlorations!slide001To make these cards, first, I created a homemade foam stamp, using the die, and stamped the cup with steam. This is a new technique to me and was inspired by Jennifer McGuire in one of her recent videos on how to stretch your supplies. I stamped 3 blue cups and 1 black one and 1 red one.slide006

Here’s a quick slideshow of the process that I used to make the red stamped card.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

For this blue card, I used a CUTplorations ‘thanks’ word die, sponged with Hero Arts blue dye ink.

slide007

Then, I triple-stacked for the sentiment on this first card. I’d like to play this card at CASology. The blue is a cool/cold color and I love to drink tea when it is cold outside. slide006Using the negative from the die cut on the first card, I made a ‘thanks’ stencil and sponged the thanks onto this next card.slide009I fussy cut my stencil out and added that as the sentiment on this third card.slide008

I kept this next card very basic and B&W. slide010

I cut around the negative space that remained from one of the white ‘thanks’  die cuts from the first card (above – the card with the blue ‘thanks’ stacked on top of several white ones) and attached the white outline as the sentiment on this card.      slide001slide008

slide012I had a lot of fun using this technique. I loved how the homemade stamp printed the image. I enjoyed it so much that I have 2 more cards to share with you next week. Those two are less CAS and I’m excited to share those with you too. 🙂

Guest Designer for City Crafter Challenge #306

Hi! After winning City Crafter Challenge’s Week 299 challenge  in February, Kirsty invited me to guest design for one of their upcoming challenges.

City Crafter Challenge Blog

So, today is the big day and I’m so happy and excited to be here as a Guest Designer for City’s Crafter Challenge Blog’s Week 306 Challenge “You are my Super Hero!”

Isn’t this a bright, fun and inspiring challenge graphic?

Screen shot 2016-02-07 at 10.16.14 PM
For this week’s challenge please create a project that include one (or more) of the following:

(1) Super Hero
(2)Comic Strips
(3) the word SUPER

You don’t have to follow the color of the picture, but if you could find inspiration from there, that would be great too!

Here’s my card:

Slide007I made this for my son’s 17th birthday later this month. 🙂

I thoroughly enjoyed making a card for this challenge! I had a perfect Papertrey Ink stamp set to use. I’d like to play this at The Male Room’s Challenge#32 – Theme, Magic/Fantasy.

Slide004I used an emboss-resist technique (on tiles #2, #3, #5 & #9), some stamping, masking, a little fussy cutting and a bit of drawing (Spiderman’s head) to make this card. I would like to play along at Word Art Wednesday’s Challenge 224-225: Anything Goes and Simon Says Stamp Monday’s: Try to Resist.

Slide002I popped up the sentiments with foam tape and stamped on the inside of the card too.

Slide003

This card was so fun and, surprisingly quick and easy, to create.    Slide001

I wrote 1 of the sentiments by hand, but I did make a little spelling error. Can you spot the sentiment and the incorrect spelling? 🙂

Slide005

I’m really happy with the result and I think my son will like it.  Shhhh! Don’t tell him, it’s a surpirse! 😉

Please make sure to check out all of the DT members super work!

Thank you Kirsty, Ros, Stella and Marina for allowing me to be your guest for this challenge!

UPDATED THURSDAY 28 APRIL

I am happy to share that this card was chosen for an Honorable Mention over at The Male Room! Thanks so much, ladies!

Stamplorations Sketch Challenge #36- Guest Designer!

I am excited to be a guest designer for Stamplorations #36 challenge this month!

Here’s my card: Slide3and the inspiration sketch

stamplorationschallengesketch36I used the Shower of Flutters – ARTplorations Stencil along with the Trendy Butterflies Stamp Set from Stamplorations for this card.

preview-web-stencil-032-showeroffluttersstmp1082.jpeg

I have been having a lot of fun with this stencil! You can see some of the other cards that I have made with it here, here or here. This time I chose to mask off part of the card front to imitate the design of the sketch.

Slide2Thank you, Shery, for choosing my card as STAMPlorations Sketch Challenge #33 Winner and giving me the privilege of Guest Designing for Sketch #36!

Stamplorations Guest Designer- July Challenge: Stamps and Distressing

I am happy to be Guest Designing for Stamplorations’ July Challenge: Stamps and Distressing, this month.

july2015 copy

Slide2The shell image is a Stamplorations digital stamp which I duplicated, resized, overlapped and then printed onto some water-color paper. seashell-stamplorationsdigipreview

A couple of photos served as inspiration for this card.

Beach with conch shell under blue sky       Conch Shell

IMG_6037edited

To start, I used some dish soap bubbles, tinted with re-inkers, to create some different watercolor background papers. I chose one of these papers to use as the water for this card.  (You can see the piece I used in the photo below, the one on the top right.)

IMG_4843edited_edited-1

Click on this photo for more information about how I made these papers.

Then I roughly sponged some Tim Holtz Pumice Stone distress ink onto the corners and some SU Soft Sky over the rest.

IMG_5934editedIMG_5935editedIMG_5931edited

Next, I added Glossy Accents and used white and silver gel pens to create little circles as bubbles. I applied ink to the shells with a little water and a paint brush. I sponged on a variety light brown inks, SU and Tim Holtz,  to make the sand. Then I brushed on some more ink and water and dabbed/rubbed it off to add some texture to the sand. I’m usually more a CAS type gal, but I had a lot of fun making this mixed media card!Slide2

IMG_6040edited_edited-1

I did some fussy cutting and then assembled the pieces with a base of white cs, some Tombow Mono Lquid adhesive and 3M foam tape to pop the shells up a little. Lastly, I adhered the panel to a piece of SU Blushing Bride and then attached it to a Night of Navy base. This is a large card, measuring about 5″ x 5 3/4″. I’m going to lay this over at SSS Monday’s Challenge: Summer.

Slide4

Thank you, Shery, for choosing my card as a top pick and giving me the privilege of Guest Designing for this month’s challenge!

Slide3I hope that you like my card and enjoyed this post. Please stop on over at the Stamplorations Blog for the July Challenge for more inspiration from the other Guest Designers and the Stamplorations Girls!
