Melissa Makes a Christmas Gift Card Envelope – STAMPlorations Mixed Media Tutorial – December 2017

Hi!  Are you in need of a last minute Christmas gift or 2? Still feeling a little crafty? It’s not too late to make a beautiful and useful gift card holder! I’m sharing a new tutorial at STAMPlorations.
I hope that you enjoy seeing the process I used to create this gift card envelope.

Poinsettias always remind me of how much my eldest daughter loves anything Christmas, and especially poinsettias.  She is one of the 4 greatest and most memorable gifts my husband I have ever received.

I used the following STAMPlorations products for this tutorial:

Christmas Flower – STAMPlorations

Doily Squares – ARTplorations Stencil

I look forward to reading your comments  at the STAMP blog. Please head on over for the complete tutorial with step by step photos and instructions.

Merry Christmas!
 Thanks for stopping by!
Grace & Peace,

Happy Little Stamper Watercolor Challenge – June 2017 – Mask

Hello! I’m very excited to be here with you for our  HLS Watercolor Challenge.

As always at Happy Little Stampers’ challenges……..we have a prize for you!

Here’s my card, using Happy Little Stampers Butterfly Birthday, Doodled Flowers and Butterfly Dies.

img_1979_edited-1

img_4037_edited-1I smooshed my watercolor panel onto a craft mat that I had sprinkled with Brushos Crystal Color and spritzed/wetted. Then, to add some large, impressionistic bold flowers, I added more Brushos through a stencil. I did some stamping, masking and heat embossing with the butterfly and flower stamps. img_1984_edited-2Then, I did a combination partial die-cutting with a HLS Butterfly Die and also some fussy cutting to cut out the butterflies and flowers. I attached all of the pieces of the panel, including the cut-out pieces, in puzzle-like fashion, onto the front of a card base. I added foam tape to the flower/butterfly puzzle pieces. img_1978_edited-1I added white details with a gel pen. I stamped the Sending Hugs (Doodle Flowers) sentiment on black cardstock. I heat embossed and fussy cut that. img_1986_edited-1I hope that you are inspired and that you going to enjoy joining in too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Little Stampers May 2017 Mixed Media Challenge – Splats

Hi! I’m very happy to be here with you today with a card for Happy Little Stampers May Mixed Media Challenge.

Our  challenge:

img_5926_edited-1
img_5928_edited-1     img_5936_edited-1
I used a stamp from Happy Little Stampers’ Doodle Flowers. I also created a small, homemade, fussy cut stencil using the same flower in this set. I used some smooshed Brusho Crystal Colors to create a background paper.

Doodled Flowers

img_5938_edited-1Today’s card is yet another one that the flowers turned out in a way that reminds me of a book from my childhood. The book is entitled Andy Pandy – in the country.

Have you read this before? I’ll bet some of my U.K. friends have. I love it. 🙂 I’d show you some more photos of it, but my copy is in long-term storage in Albuquerque and I’m in Germany now. 😦 You never know what you’ll miss when you put things into storage! I should be getting those things back soon, though. 🙂img_5935_edited-1

Anyhow, I used the negative spaces of some fussy cut flowers which I used of on this card to make a stencil. I stenciled embossing paste through the homemade stencil three times.img_5932_edited-1 After the paste dried, I stamped the flowers on top of the paste. I added some SPLATS of red with a paint brush, some enamel dots and the sentiment strip.img_5929_edited-1 The red splats on this card especially remind me of an illustration of Looby Loo and some red poppies. I’d love to see that page, so if you have a copy and want to email it to me please do!

So! I hope that you have enjoyed seeing my bright flowery card on what might be a gray day in you part of the world? Are you excited to join in with our Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media challenge?!

Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge – March 2017 – Watercolor- Smoosh

Welcome back to Happy Little Stampers’ Watercolor Challenge. We are very excited about this challenge and are guessing by the number of you who joined us last month that you are too!

This month’s challenge:

As always at Happy Little Stampers’ challenges……..we have a prize for you!

We would like to welcome our Guest Designer, Linda, for this challenge!

Here’s my card using Mix Mash, HLS Doodled Flowers and Butterfly Birthday.img_6196_edited-1

To start, I “smooshed” some blue and green paint onto the card front with my stamp press.

img_6191_edited-1

Then I created a “background stamp” of sorts by adhering lots of stamps fromMix Mash, Doodled Flowers and Butterfly Birthday onto my stamp press all at once.

I love this stamp press! So much so, that I have 2.

I have to give a shout out to Fiskars. I had an issue with one of the presses (some of the hardware, little rubber O-rings, got stretched out and went missing) and after telling them about it via their website they sent me a new one! I did not have to return the one with the problem.

img_6177_edited-1Using my “background stamp” I stamped the butterfly and flower images all at the same time, making 4 cards for a private challenge while I was at it. img_6163_edited-1These cards remind me of The Secret Garden, the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Image result for the secret garden black and white imagesWith loving, tender care the children in the book, with the help of an elderly gardener, discover the joy of caring for a neglected garden. They see life flourish in the garden, and in themselves, as they spend time there nurturing it.

My family and I enjoy listening to an Audio Drama version of the book. Here’s a link in case you’d like to check it out.

The Secret Garden (Audio Drama), Focus on the Family Radio Theatre

After smooshing and stamping, I added the fussy cut flower, the sentiment, and some white gel pen accents.

img_6193_edited-1I love how these cards turned out! Try making your our “background stamp” and let me know what you think.

img_6195_edited-1

All of our Happy Little Stampers’ Watercolor Challenges are Anything Goes with an optional twist. The only rule is that you use water coloring or a watercolor technique on your entry. You may enter as many times as you like and you do NOT have to use HLS products to enter.

My teammates and I are excited about this monthly watercolor challenge and we sure do hope that you are going to enjoy joining in too!

Thanks for stopping by!
