Wings like Eagles

I have 3 slightly different cards to share with you in this post. The first one, I think, is the most CAS version of the 3, so I am going to play this over at ATCAS Challenge #63 + DT CALL.

IMG_4845editedI used some dish soap bubbles tinted with re-inkers to create some different watercolor background papers which I used for the 3 cards in this post. I had originally intended to make a card for LIM’s water/one layer challenge, but decided that the papers weren’t really CAS enough.

Here are the background papers that I made:Β IMG_4843edited_edited-1I kind of made up my own version of a technique that I saw somewhere in the blogo-sphere. Would you like to try this technique? I can’t seem to find where I first saw it, but you can look here and here and here for an idea of how I did these. I’m also going to try this technique again, following Sandy’s instructions. For my method, I used 3 different Stampin’ Up blue re-inkers. I added the tint to the soap & water in light to dark succession, blew bubbles with a straw and then added the tinted bubbles one color at a time to the watercolor paper until I had fairly soaked it. Instead of pushing the paper down onto the bubbles, I scooped up the bubbles with my hands and dumped them on the paper. (Talk about inky fingers!) The inky bubbles sat on top of the paper and the paper absorbed the ink. If I wanted more color in a particular spot, I spooned some of the inky water onto the bubbles, allowing the tint to run down the sides of the bubbles onto the paper. Not easy to explain, so next time I do my technique I will photograph the steps!

I used the back side of the watercolor paper for the 3 cards that I am posting here today because it looked more like sky, rather than water. I like how this technique, used with watercolor paper, gives you such a variety of unique papers with which to play. I did use the front/bubbly side to make some other cards too. I have yet to blog about or play those at any challenges.

Here is the second version of the card which I am posting just for fun: IMG_4852edited

P.S. I listened to this song today and it reminded me of card-making, creativity and how God is the Master Artist. I hope you’ll listen and enjoy!
