CASology Featured Designer

Hi! Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m excited to be here today with a super fun announcement! I was asked by Melissa to be a Featured Designer for CASology for the next few weeks!

My answer? Let me think about that for a nano-second……ummmm, wowzers!? “Yes!”

Thanks so much, Melissa. I consider it a great honor and privilege. As I have said many times before, “CASology rocks!”

I’d like to share a little bit about my journey with CASology and card-making in general. I started playing along at CASology in March of 2013 for Week 37: Hope. I have another blog and I was sharing my cards over there at the time. I had just started making cards a few months before that and CASology was one of the very first challenges with which I played along. I love word games and cleanness and simplicity too, so CASology was kind of like my first love of CAS challenges.

I was such a newbie and really didn’t know what I was doing, but the word “Hope” drew me in and I’ve been a big CASology fan since!

Here’s that card from March 2013, my first entry at CASology:

Lots of white…..space?? Maybe, but not super Clean and not Simple. 🙂 I still like this card though.

Now, I look back at myself and feel like a kid who charged out onto the stage in their underwear and didn’t even realize it!

Sometimes I feel like that still- the kid on stage in their underwear. Now though, I realize how undressed I truly am! Wow! There’s so much to learn and try! I’m still really very new to the lovely world of stamping, card-making and paper-crafting. However, as you know, the online crafting community is SO gracious. I am continuing on this lovely journey and am so blessed to be part of a beautifully supportive and creative crowd of crafters and design teams.

Currently, in my crafting, I am all over the map. Literally and figuratively! I started card-making in Belgium, now live in Germany, am going to the Happy Little Stampers Retreat in England this month and then will be moving on to the Lord knows where during the Summer of 2017.

I also have lived in Maine (where I was born and raised), New Mexico (1995-98), New Jersey (1998-2000), Massachusetts (2000-2003), Turkey (2003-2005), South Dakota (2005-2007), Germany (2007-2010), New Mexico (2010-12), Belgium (2012-2014) and now, since 2014, Germany again. I have visited family in Scotland quite often in my mother’s hometown and have had the opportunity to travel to quite a few places in Europe.

I love visiting the ocean and beach combing and have had the pleasure of doing that in lots of locations in the U.S. and in Europe.  Collecting sea/beach glass is a favorite pastime of mine; I love how God uses the sea to create something beautiful out of something broken.  It speaks to me of His character and reminds me of a verse in the Old Testament of the Bible, Isaiah 61:3.

Here is a small bit of my collection from my mother’s hometown of Dunoon, Scotland.

I love making a wide and varied range of creations from Clean And Simple cards to messy mixed media projects. This creative journey has been a wonderful and sometimes (honestly speaking) frightening experience. I love learning new techniques and don’t have the time to take all the classes I’d like to or even use the supplies I have in my stash already.  I’ve had a Gelli Plate sitting unopened for 2 weeks! I wonder if I can use it to make a CAS Chevron card?! OOOO! I think I’ll have to try it! 🙂

CASology challenges continue to tickle my CAS-loving heart. I try to play along often. I sometimes have so many ideas that I can’t make cards fast enough. Lots of times a flood of ideas will hit me on Sunday or Monday. Phooey. CASology brain block!

Of course, I had to play along this week – I LOVE this week’s cue card!

So. Many. Possibilities.

So, I have a card to share with you today.

  After finishing it, I couldn’t decide whether this would be a side fold or a top fold card, so I photographed it both ways.

Which way do you like it best? Side fold or top fold?

A simple make- Copic markers, dry embossed chevron die cuts and repeat stamping of the sentiment.

A chevron rainbow! I have to say that I really like this card. 🙂
