A Plaid Leaf

Hi! I’m here with a card inspired by several fun Fall Challenges.

img_3679edited_edited-2

I created the plaid leaf by first sponging an ombre background (red to yellow from the stem to the leaf tip). Then I repeatedly masked off portions of the leaf and sponged on ink. I love using this technique.

img_3675edited_edited-2

I used a “Thankful” die from CUTplorations.

img_3690edited_edited-2

I sponged on a red band and attached the white panel to the orange cardstock.

img_3729_edited-1I attached the leaf and the die cut with foam tape.

I really like this card. A plaid leaf!? Sponging, ink blending, lots of red (my favorite color to use when making cards), ombre Autumn colors? I don’t normally make the same card twice, but I may have to repeat this one. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!

Grace & Peace,

Melissa

The Fall 2016 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop – Framed Coffee Cup Stamp & Brusho Crystal Colours

Hi!

I have another another bright Fall card to share with you. I designed this with STAMPlorations products for the Fall CLBH.

slide001

STAMPlorations is one of the FAll CLBH sponsors and Shery has a bunch Coffee & Tea lover themed products in her store.slide011

Here’s a closer look at my card:slide005 I love this new STAMPlorations stamp, Framed Coffee Cup.preview-FramedCoffeeCupBesides the stamp I also used the ARTplorations’ Stencils Some Birds and  Chevron Crazy.

How I made this card:

  1. I made the background by stenciling on water color paper with Brusho Crystal Colours and the Chevron Crazy stencil.slide003
  2. I stamped the Framed Coffee Cup in embossing ink and then heat embossed in white embossing powder on the chevron background. slide007
  3. I added some details and shading to the cup with some Zig Clean Color Brush Pens.slide004
  4. I added some steam with a liquid chalk pen.slide010
  5. I stenciled on the birds.slide006
  6. Matted the chevron panel.slide009
  7. Added the matted panel to the black card base.

I love how this card turned out and I hope that you enjoyed seeing it.

9 squares

I’m back with a card for another challenge at PTI 9th Anniversary.

The-challenge

Create a new card that features nine 1-1/2″ squares, each altered in a different way. Mount them all onto a 5-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ square card base.

This one certainly was a challenge because I’m away from home with limited supplies. I won’t bore you with the more obvious details, but have included descriptions of the basic techniques that I used. Please see below.

My card:

I’d like to play this at SSS Monday Challenge Blog’s Spritz & Spray at The Card Concept’s #48 Sweethearts as a Mixed Media Card and at Word Art Wednesday’s Challenge #219 : Anything Goes.
