Comment here and over at my Instagram feed. Tell me if you enjoy bird watching or what birds you especially love and you’ll be entered into a drawing for “For the Birds.”

UPDATED Thursday, September 27th.

Karen Ladd you are the winner of the stamp set! Congrats!

Time’s flying and I have a flock of 14 Bold Birdiful cards to share with you today.  Let’s fly!

Please see the STAMP blog for card descriptions.

Can you see how much fun I had with these products?! I had originally planned on making 6 cards, but had a flock of ideas come flapping through my mind. The cards kept flying, but my feathers weren’t ruffled. Inky fingers, but no ruffled feathers. These products are a joy to use!

So, fly on over to the STAMP blog. While there, tell us which among my cards today is your favorite? Share your answer by commenting on the STAMP blog post for a chance to win either a $15 gift certificate to the store OR your choice of any one of the (in-stock) products that I used in my projects. Commenting closes on Friday, August 31. We’ll announce the two winners on September 10 in the August Winners post at the STAMP blog.

I hope that you’ll come visit me at Instagram.  Follow me there and leave a comment about your favorite birds.

I’m giving away one of my favorite stamp sets:

If you are looking for me I’ll be in the gardens and fields with the birds!

Stencil Sunday – July 2016 – A decorative plaque from a broken tile

Hi!  I’m very happy to be here with a post for STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday.

Here’s a plaque that I created using the ARTplorations Stencil – Happy Flowers and a stamp from Trendy Birds.

IMG_9767birdplaque

It’s a a broken roof tile (I think that is what it is? Maybe one of my German friends will know?)  I found it in a pile of other broken roof tiles, pottery, shingles and bricks on a dirt road in the hills of the Oberammergau area of Germany. This was the largest piece there, most of the others were about the size of your hand. Making this plague reminded me of a  the Old Testament book of Isaiah, chapter 61.IMG_9771birdplaque

       How I made this project:

  1. Washed & dried tile.
  2. Sponged embossing ink through the flower portions of Happy Flowers – ARTplorations Stencil.

  3. Added red embossing powder & heated with heat embossing tool.
  4. Sponged embossing ink through the stem portions of Happy Flowers – ARTplorations Stencil.IMG_9772birdplaque
  5. Added green embossing powder & used heat embossing tool to set.
  6. Added yellow Gelatos to center of flowers.

  7. Sponged embossing ink all over flowers and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
  8. Stamped the bird (Trendy Birds) and the sentiment in black ink and added clear EP and heat set.IMG_8917birdplaque
  9. Added white acrylic paint to bird.
  10. Colored grass and sky with Gelatos, added clear embossing powder and heat set.
I had a lot of fun creating this plaque and I hope that you have been inspired to create your own mixed media projects! Please check out my teammates’, MariLynn’s and Susanne’s, projects here.
Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Challenge + Stencil Sunday – July Mini Calendar

Hi!  I’m so happy and excited to be here with my very first post as a member of the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Design team. I am here with a project for Stencil Sunday and the July Mixed Media Challenge.
Remember to add the above challenge graphic to your post in order to be eligible for the prizes each month. The winner will receive a $15 STAMPlorations gift certificate or 2 ARTplorations stencils. And the top picks receive an ARTplorations stencil of their choice.

Here’s a mini calendar page that I made using the ARTplorations Stencil – Happy Flowers and some stamps from Trendy Butterflies.

IMG_9622editedThe calendar measures approximately 5 3/4″ x 8 3/4″ or 14.5 x 22.25 cm matted.

I repeatedly sponged a variety of rainbow-hued flowers onto my panel of cardstock with the Happy Flowers stencil.

I re-purposed this particular piece of cardstock from a previous project.

IMG_9750julycalendar

If you look carefully you’ll see some turquoise ink along the edges, the left overs from said project.

IMG_9746julycalendar

I designed the little calendar as a word document and printed it onto white cardstock. It measures 4″ x 2 1/4″ or 4 cm x 5.75 cm.

I inked the edges of the calendar by swiping it across a black ink pad.

I stamped the butterflies in embossing ink and embossed in white. Some bits didn’t adhere as nicely as I would have liked and I could have re-embossed, but I liked the effect. 🙂

I had a lot of fun creating this calendar page and I hope that you have been inspired to create your own mixed media projects! I’d be very glad to have you join us for the mixed media challenge this month. I’m so excited to be here with you and I can’t wait to see what you make!

Please remember that this is not a card challenge…it’s anything BUT a card.  🙂

To be sure that you’re eligible for the prizes each month, please create a mixed media project, add a link to the challenge and also remember to show the Mixed Media challenge graphic in your post. Please check out what the rest of the design team has made here.

Thanks for stopping by!
