Coffee Loving Cardmakers: January Guest Designer – January 20, 2017

https://i0.wp.com/coffeelovingcardmakers.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/GuestDesignerSlider.jpgHi! I’m very happy to be with you today with a third post as the January Guest Designer for Coffee Loving Cardmakers! I have an unusual sort of card to share with you today.

I combined 4 of my favorite products, from different companies, and also altered the stamped image of one of my favorite stamps.

Here’s my card, using, at least in part, one of my favorite rubber stamps.

This stamp set is one of my first, and favorite, rubber stamp sets. It is Stampin’ Up’s (discontinued) Tea Shoppe.

You can see that I used only the outline of the large cup.

slide009I stamped the design on the cup with this stamp set from Papertrey Ink.

I also used these lovely snowflake dies.

I used the CUTplorations “hugs” word dieĀ for the sentiment.

Winter 2016 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop – Stacked Cups 4

Hi! I’m here with another card for the 2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

To start this card, I printed this free stacked cups image from here at Beyond the Fringes Crafts. šŸ™‚

Thanks for the free digi, Carmen!

Here’s my card. slide01I fussy cut the image and then masked off every other cup and stenciled a chevron pattern on some and dots on others. I used a couple of ARTplorations stencils, Chevron Crazy and Dots All Over.

preview-web-stencil-035-chevroncrazypreview-web-stencil-077-DotsAllOver

slide01I decided to cut the cups apart and stack them individually with foam tape. slide03slide02 I created the background by sponging red ink through a paper doily onto white cardstock. img_4937edited_edited-1

I die cut the sentiment using CUTplorations word die “hugs”.Ā

Winter 2016 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop – Sketched Green Cup of Hot Chocolate

Hi! I’m here with a card for the 2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

First, I drew the cup.
slide08Then I fussy cut it out.

I created the background by sponging green ink through a paper doily.

slide10I added some cream (acrylic paint) to the top of my hot chocolate. (I’m not a coffee drinker. šŸ˜‰ )

I added some silver ink to the rim and handle of the cup.

slide09Ā I traced the cup image onto some copy/printer paper, created a mask and then sponged on the silvery-gray shadow to the left of the cup onto the white background. slide11 slide12Ā  Thanks for stopping by!

Grace, Peace & Merry Christmas,

Melissa

Winter 2016 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop – Stacked Cups

Hi! I’m here with a card for the 2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!!!!

To start, I printed a free stacked cups image from Beyond the Fringes Crafts. šŸ™‚ Thanks for the free digi, Carmen!

slide01

I also printed the image onto removable mailing label and cardstock, then I fussy cut the images out. I also created a mask and then sponged on the silvery-gray shadow of the cups onto the background, to the left of the cups.slide02

Here’s a closer look at the “shadow” that I sponged on:slide03

IĀ  fussy cut the sticky cups apart and then sponged on different Christmassy colors. Then, to add some rigidity, I restacked the sticker cups onto the cardstock stack of cups. I made the curls by stamping and heat embossing with my prize stamp from the Fall CLBH!

I love this gorgeous background STAMP!

Curls Background Builder Cling Rubber Stamp

I added gold to some of the swirls with a glass pen. I stamped the curly-swirly, steamy background with the JVD Curls background stamp too.

Thanks, Jillian! I love this stamp and have designed 2 more cards for the Winter CLBH with it. slide01

I designed my own “stacked” sentiment (see the bottom right below) and printed it onto vellum.

You are welcome to print some of these for your own use. šŸ™‚slide1slide02Thanks for stopping by!

Melissa

Happy Rainbow Teacup Stack

Hi! I’m happy to be here today with a happy rainbow teacup stackĀ  to share with you. šŸ™‚

img_1772-copy

I made this panel by heat embossing the STAMPlorations clear stamp Framed Tea Cups in white embossing powder.

img_1551editedimg_1558editedimg_1559edited

preview-framedteacupsimg_1563edited

Next I created the rainbow background panel using a variety of Brusho Crystal Color powders. I used the Brushos and spray starch technique that I learned from Kylie of Happy Little Stampers with a piece of watercolor paper.

Ā img_1566edited img_1571edited img_1573 img_1576editedimg_1577_edited-1

Then I used a CUTplorations Die from Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies.

preview-CrazyDoubleRunningStitches-Rectangle

img_1583_edited-1 img_1584_edited-1 img_1585edited

I stamped the sentiment with the STAMPlorations Always Tea Time.

preview-SheryRuss_AlwaysTeaTime

After that did some partial die cutting with the smallest of the stitched rectangle dies to make a sentiment panel.img_1759edited

I attached the large panel with the hole in it to a card base and added the tiny sentiment rectangle with adhesive. img_1762edited Then I added the smaller stamped and embossed Tea Cup stack panel to the card base.

img_1761editedI scooted the small panel up a bit from the original position to give room for the sentiment panel and also to achieve a more pleasing design.img_1761-copy

I hope that you have a beautiful day. Thanks for stopping by!

Grace and Peace,

Melissa

I am incredibly pleased to share that…….

designer-spotlight-badge

for this card by Maura!

Maura said, “Melissa made a stop me in my tracks gorgeous card!! I love how she embossed the teacups in white with the stitching around the layers, so the gorgeous rich colors stand out so beautifully! She shared how she created her background, and I definitely will be trying this out myself, and I bet you will too!”

Thank you very much, Maura! I really appreciate your kind words and encouragement. I’d be very happy to see what you create with this technique.
