The Mixed Media Card Challenge #22 – April – Sunshine – Reminder 2

The Mixed Media Card Challenge

Hi! Thank you for spending some of your time to visit me. 🙂 I’m very happy to be here today with a reminder for The Mixed Media Card Challenge’s Challenge #22 – April – Sunshine.

Here’s our challenge graphic:

Here’s my card:

I smooshed yellow ink, stencilled with an ARTplorations stencil and a yellow Gelatos stick, sponged a darker yellow through a chevron stencil

and then stamped with some of the large Trendy Butterflies stamps. I’d like to play this along at Double D Challenges:’YELLOW’ A Happy Place To Be.stmp1082.jpeg

.

IMG_6705editedNext, I inked up a large sentiment stamp with more a rainbow of Gelatos. IMG_6707editedHowever, when I stamped the sentiment, it did not come off as clearly as I would have liked, so I re-stamped, slightly off the color, with black. This card makes me a bit uncomfortable, as it is not as “clean” as I like my mixed media to be….I went with it anyway. 🙂

Next, I added some small black Trendy Butterflies. I’d like to play this along at ARTplorations Flash Stencil Project Linky Party.

IMG_6715edited  Finally I added the yellow cs sun which I had colored with some more Gelatos and added a white & black mat and a dark yellow card base.

I had a lot of fun making this card! Make sure you stop by The MMCC blog and check out my teammates superb creations!

MMCC July 2015 Challenge #13 – DLC!!! Blue Reminder Extra

I am so happy to be sharing some cards with you today as part of the MMCC Design Team. This month’s blue themed challenge is so much fun! Remember, you have until July 25, 11:55 p.m. PDT (GMT-7) to play!

Isn’t this a cool theme?! I liked it so much that I made a bunch if different cards for this challenge. I have 4 fairly similar cards to share with you in this post. For all of these cards I used lots of ink for sponging and stamped the background with Stamplorations Trendy Butterflies and SU Mixed Bunch Flowers. On 2 of the cards I used some ink-tinted Gesso and a Stamplorations Bubble stencil. There’s dry embossing, Stickles, vellum, ribbon, sequins, and heat embossing involved in multiple of the cards too. A mixed media party was goin’ on at my stamping table!

Here’s my first one:

The second: (I used a Bubble Stencil from ArtPlorations for this and the next card.) IMG_8791edited

I’m going to play this “Just a Note” card over at SSS Monday’s Challenge: i scream for…these cards are all quite INKY!

The third:

It’s blistering hot here today, 97 degrees F in the shade (36 Celcius). So, I’m pretty drained and will stop typing and share slide show  of some of the process that I used to make these cards.

So! I hope that I have inspired you to play along with this month’s MMCC challenge. Please stop over to the blog for some inspiration from the rest of the design team and to link up your entry.

I have been having a lot of fun with this stencil! You can see some of the other cards that I have made with it here, here or here. This time I chose to mask off part of the card front to imitate the design of the sketch.

Stamplorations Guest Designer- July Challenge: Stamps and Distressing

I am happy to be Guest Designing for Stamplorations’ July Challenge: Stamps and Distressing, this month.

A couple of photos served as inspiration for this card.

To start, I used some dish soap bubbles, tinted with re-inkers, to create some different watercolor background papers. I chose one of these papers to use as the water for this card.  (You can see the piece I used in the photo below, the one on the top right.)

IMG_4843edited_edited-1

Click on this photo for more information about how I made these papers.

Then I roughly sponged some Tim Holtz Pumice Stone distress ink onto the corners and some SU Soft Sky over the rest.

IMG_5934editedIMG_5935editedIMG_5931edited

Next, I added Glossy Accents and used white and silver gel pens to create little circles as bubbles. I applied ink to the shells with a little water and a paint brush. I sponged on a variety light brown inks, SU and Tim Holtz,  to make the sand. Then I brushed on some more ink and water and dabbed/rubbed it off to add some texture to the sand. I’m usually more a CAS type gal, but I had a lot of fun making this mixed media card!Slide2

IMG_6040edited_edited-1

I did some fussy cutting and then assembled the pieces with a base of white cs, some Tombow Mono Lquid adhesive and 3M foam tape to pop the shells up a little. Lastly, I adhered the panel to a piece of SU Blushing Bride and then attached it to a Night of Navy base. This is a large card, measuring about 5″ x 5 3/4″. I’m going to lay this over at SSS Monday’s Challenge: Summer.

Summery Yellow & Gray

Hi! I’m here with a set of card inspired by The Card Concept’s Challenge #38: A Color Challenge.

I made 4 different cards using an ARTplorations Stencil, Shower of Flutters. I’m going to play this first, “Clean and Layered”  card over at The Card Concept and SSS’s Monday Challenge: Summer. Summer reminds me of flowers, butterflies and sunshine.IMG_6981edited

I started with a full sheet of heavy weight cs, Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb, 8-1/2

The flowers are the top of a Stamplorations digi image that I won a few months ago.  IMG_6987edited

For the above card I also used the stamp set that coordinates with this stencil, Trendy Butterflies. I’m going to play this over at STAMPLORATIONS: Anything Goes Challenge.

I used a Stampin’ Up Flower stamp from the Mixed Bunch stamp set for this next card. I’m going to play this card over at SSS’s Monday: Anything Goes and WAW’s: Anything Goes #189 too. 🙂

IMG_6993edited Finally, I used 2 stamps from PTI’s You’ve Been Framed: Oval Mini Stamp Set for this last card.

IMG_6999editedThis stencil is so much fun to use!
