Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge – March 2017 – Watercolor- Smoosh

Welcome back to Happy Little Stampers’ Watercolor Challenge. We are very excited about this challenge and are guessing by the number of you who joined us last month that you are too!

This month’s challenge:

As always at Happy Little Stampers’ challenges……..we have a prize for you!

We would like to welcome our Guest Designer, Linda, for this challenge!

Here’s my card using Mix Mash, HLS Doodled Flowers and Butterfly Birthday.img_6196_edited-1

To start, I “smooshed” some blue and green paint onto the card front with my stamp press.

img_6191_edited-1

Then I created a “background stamp” of sorts by adhering lots of stamps fromMix Mash, Doodled Flowers and Butterfly Birthday onto my stamp press all at once.

I love this stamp press! So much so, that I have 2.

I have to give a shout out to Fiskars. I had an issue with one of the presses (some of the hardware, little rubber O-rings, got stretched out and went missing) and after telling them about it via their website they sent me a new one! I did not have to return the one with the problem.

img_6177_edited-1Using my “background stamp” I stamped the butterfly and flower images all at the same time, making 4 cards for a private challenge while I was at it. img_6163_edited-1These cards remind me of The Secret Garden, the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Image result for the secret garden black and white imagesWith loving, tender care the children in the book, with the help of an elderly gardener, discover the joy of caring for a neglected garden. They see life flourish in the garden, and in themselves, as they spend time there nurturing it.

My family and I enjoy listening to an Audio Drama version of the book. Here’s a link in case you’d like to check it out.

After smooshing and stamping, I added the fussy cut flower, the sentiment, and some white gel pen accents.

img_6193_edited-1I love how these cards turned out! Try making your our “background stamp” and let me know what you think.

All of our Happy Little Stampers’ Watercolor Challenges are Anything Goes with an optional twist. The only rule is that you use water coloring or a watercolor technique on your entry. You may enter as many times as you like and you do NOT have to use HLS products to enter.

The Mixed Media Card Challenge #30 Reminder – December – Gold

Challenge Badge

Hi! I’m here with a reminder post & card for The Mixed Media Card Challenge for December:

Here’s my card:  img_3752_edited-1

img_3749_edited-1

I started by making a homemade stencil with a star die.

img_3755_edited-1

Then I stenciled gold embossing paste onto the smooshed background panel.

img_3763_edited-1

I had used a variety of paints, some Smooch Spritz, some gold embossing paste to create the smooshed background. After the gold stars dried. img_3756_edited-1I fussy-cut some of the stars and attached the panel onto red cardstock. I embossed the panel with a chevron embossing panel.

As you can see, I designed, and then printed, my own digital sentiments on vellum. img_3751_edited-1

I included a PDF of the sentiments for you to use. Please click here or on the image below to be taken to the printable version.

slide1I fussy cut the sentiment and added gold gel pen.

img_3757_edited-1

I attached the sentiments and then added the panel to a gray card.

img_3762_edited-1I had a lot of fun making this card! Make sure you stop by The MMCC blog and check out my teammates’ superb creations!

Thanks for stopping by!

Melissa

Hello – Pink & Purple Smooshed

I have another card to share with you today! IMG_4586edited

IMG_4822edited  To make this card, first, I die cut 2 squares out of my stash of “smooshed” watercolor paper. I adhered the squares together with Tombow Mono liquid glue and framed them with 2 pieces of watercolor paper. The card base is SU’s Pretty in Pink and the sentiment is from PTI’s You’ve been Framed: Hexagon stamp set.IMG_4821edited

The design was inspired by Casology’s Cue Word: Shape, HLS’s May CAS: Die Cuts/Punches Challenge.

Yellow Heart Die Cut Flower

Today I have another quick post with a CAS card to share.

IMG_4617edited

I made this card a while back, but have not played it anywhere until now. I think that it work’s perfectly for CASology’s Shape cue word and HLS’s Die-cut/Punches Challenges. I used a SU stamp, VersaMark ink, a white gel pen and a Sizzix Heart Die to make this card.

Bubbly Blue Squares

Today I have another CAS card to share with you.

IMG_4808edited

I die cut some squares out of my stash of “smooshed” watercolor paper. Then I stamped the circles/bubbles in VersaMark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I’m going to play this over at JUG’s #292: Embossing. I added some Glossy Accents and adhered the squares together with Tombow Mono liquid glue and popped up the white matted layer with foam tape.

IMG_4606edited

I used a PTI sentiment stamp for this card. The design was inspired by Casology’s Cue Word: Shape, HLS’s May CAS: Die Cuts/Punches Challenge. I am also going to play this over at Little Tangles: Challenge #56- Clean and Simple.
