 Here’s the October Challenge Graphic:

I really like this graphic, don’t you?

I’d like to share 1 last card for this month’s challenge with you in this post.

IMG_8070editedTo make the cup, I did some ink blending with orange and yellow ink on white cs. Then I used a variety of colored markers. Next, I  added some black with a journal marker. Vellum, on the top part, layers of embossed squares on  the bottom and a small sentiment banner finish this card off. Maybe this isn’t as mixed media as I thought!? I’d like to play this card at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog’s- Simon Says: Color Inspiration, Virginia’s View Challenge #19: You Color It, Time Out’s Challenge #42, Word art Wednesday’s Anything Goes: Challenge #205 and ColourQ’s Challenge #312.

Here’ the October Challenge Graphic:

I have to say that Orange is not one of my favorite colors, but I did get into it once I got started. I liked it enough to make 2 fairly different cards to share with you in this post. Maybe orange is growing on me?!

Here’s my first one:

IMG_8141edited

I did some ink-blending and cut the peony out with my PTI Peony Cover Plate Die. Then I cut out 2 more, one in black and one in the spotted vellum. For extra dimension I also partially cut 3 more peonies and added 2 or 3 extra layers to some different petals. I’m going to play this first card at DL. ART Thankful Thursday Challenge #165 THEME:  FALL, Virginia’s View #19: All Things Colored, SSS Monday’s Challenge- Ombre, SSS Wednesday’s Anything Goes and Word Art Wednesday’s Challenge #203: Anything Goes.

I made a second card and this time used the positive part of the orange ink-blended peony from the first one.  I’m going to play this second card at Uniko’s Challenge #25 AUTUMN / FALL with an optional twist of THANKS

IMG_8109editedI added some orange tinted embossing paste to the background. Have you ever made your own embossing paste? It’s easy! Baby Powder/talc & glue/Mod Podge & some acrylic paint and then a bit of water. Tint it however you like.

I also added a butterfly, stamped with Uniko’s English Country Garden – Butterflies stamp.

The vellum is from SU’s Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack.

UPDATED SATURDAY OCTOBER 10. Please click on the photo below to go to my reminder post and see 3 more cards that I made for this challenge.

HLS September 2015 Sketch Challenge

Happy Little Stampers I’m happy to be sharing a card with you today as a member of the HLS Sketch Design Team.

CURRENT SKETCH CHALLENGE

Here is September’s Sketch:

Wow! Don’t you just love this one? I do!!

My card: IMG_8102editedI used PTI’s Peony Cover Plate Die to make this card. I’m really enjoying this cover plate die. Peonies and their sweet fragrance remind me of my my mother. I love you and miss you, Mum.

I sponged 2 backgrounds, 1 yellow and 1 red, for the flower in SU’s Real Red and Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade. Then I cut out 4 of the Peonies, in the sponged red and yellow and also in green and blue card-stock.

IMG_8158edited I put the sentiment on the inside of this card. I used a stamp from PTI’s Cheerful Heart Stamp set.

ATSM Challenge #157 – MYM

I’m back with a post for this week’s ATSM #157 which is our Make Your Mark (MYM) Challenge.

Addicted to Stamps and More!

Here are the rules for the MYM challenge:

Make your Mark – your entry MUST contain the use of anything that can make a mark – Stampin’ Write, Copics, Promarkers, Painting, Chalks, Watercolors, Sponges, Stencils, Masks etc etc

Our Sponsor for this challenge is:

The Prize is a $20 gift certificate!

For this MYM I made 3 cards, each one is slightly different from the other,
IMG_7388editedIMG_7378editedIMG_7384edited
but all using the PTI Peony Cover Plate Die and Faber Castell Gelatos.
The first 2 are a sister pair. I colored the die cut itself and used it for this first card.
IMG_7386edited
I lightly traced the outline of the peony onto the card front as a guide, then I sponged some ink onto the front of the card base and adhered the die cut and the sentiment. The sentiment is a free digi stamp from Little Tangles.
IMG_7392edited
While coloring the die cut I also used it as a stencil and used it to make a print for the 2nd 1-layer card.
Here’s a photo of the work in progress.

IMG_7184editedHere’s the resulting print.

IMG_7378editedI added some color with my Stampin’ Write markers and the sentiment with PTI’s sentiment swoosh stamp set.

Here is the 3rd card that I have to share with you.IMG_7384edited

Please see the following slide show for more details of how I made this 3rd card. I used the same basic technique for this last card as for the second one in this post. However, for this last card I added I white die cut on top of the colored background.

You can see the sister of the 3rd card in this post, where I used the colored die cut itself, here.
