AAA Cards Game #112 – Favorite Technique

Hi! I’m back with a fun new challenge for AAA Cards.

Special tips for competing (and being eligible to win) in this game:

  1. As always, we’re looking for Clean and Simple (CAS) greeting cards, BUT for this game please make sure tell us about your favorite technique that you used on the card front.
  2. As always and for all of our games our definition of Clean and Simple means that white space should not be patterned, embossed or textured.

Sponsor: Sugar Pea Designs – $25 gift certificate

My one-layer, CAS stenciled card.

I combined some of my most favorite techniques and things all together on the CAS card. Namely, I used all of the colors of the rainbow, did some sponging/ink-blending, included flowers, did some masking and used a stencil.

I hope that you enjoyed visiting today and I hope that you’ve been inspired to play along.

Thanks for stopping by!
Grace & Peace,
Melissa

Butterfly in the Flower Garden – Thank You

Hi! Quick post with a “just for fun” card for some of my favorite CAS challenges.

I used the new Bloomtangled die (#1) to die cut a panel and then used the die cut paper as a stencil. I also created a couple of die-cut stencil/masks and did some masking to make this one-layer card.

I applied the solid butterfly mask to the card front and stenciled over it with the large cover plate stencil. Then I removed the stencil and the mask. Next, I masked off the butterfly several times, using the negative and positive butterfly die cuts to stencil the butterfly.

I used the butterfly mask and butterfly stencil to make 2 other cards.

I think that it is a lot of fun to get 3 cards for 1!

I’d better get out of my warm bed now!

Lots of things going on here today.

There’s very cold, windy, wintry weather, a special birthday and planning for our week.

There’s longer term planning to do for the coming gardening season too.

To look out of my window, you’d think that would be far away, but it’ll be here soon.

It was 10° Fahrenheit when my husband checked the temperature before we went to bed last night. He’s bringing in lots more firewood now because we’re going to be having some abnormally low temperatures this week.

Pretty soon there will be butterflies, but for now there is snow.

Thanks for stopping by!

AAA Cards Game #111 – Use only one third

Hi! I’m back with a fun new challenge for AAA Cards.

Special tips for competing (and being eligible to win) in this game:

  1. As always, we’re looking for Clean and Simple (CAS) greeting cards, BUT for this game please make sure to use ONLY 1/3 of your card front. The remaining 2/3 of the front of your greeting card should remain totally unaltered.
  2. As always and for all of our games our definition of Clean and Simple means that white space should not be patterned, embossed or textured.

Our super sponsor:

Our guest designer for this challenge is Guest Designer – Ishani from Quillish.

Here’s my rainbow card using Winnie & Walter’s LS Exclusives: So Tweet with Evelin T Designs.

I chose some small stamps from the set.

I’ve used the super cute birds in this set a number of times before.

This time though, I resisted the little cuties and put some of the other stamps to use.

I wanted to make a super Clean and Simple (CAS) 1-layer card. This card would be perfect for encouragement or a birthday.

Here’s how I made it:

  1. I set my top-fold card in my MISTI.
  2. I lined up the stamps on the card and then closed the MISTI to pick up the stamps.
  3. I inked up my line of stamps. I like to start with yellow first and then add the darker colors so as to not mess up the yellow ink pad. I use the edge of the ink pad and add all of the colors, one after the other, and then stamp all of the colors at the same time. (I used a red marker to color the heart.)
  4. I repeated the process several times until the colors were nice and opaque.

Be sure to stop by the AAA Cards challenge blog to enjoy Ishani’s and my teammate’s lovely Clean and Simple Cards.

I hope that you enjoyed visiting today and I hope that you’ve been inspired to play along.

Thanks for stopping by!
Grace & Peace,
Melissa

For the Birds – Faith Sings – Geometric Bird 3 with Heart

Hello from snowy Maine!

I have a bright, bold and cheerful almost one-layer card to share with you.

I did some ink-blending, stamping, fussy cutting, die cutting and masking to create this card. Besides the red heart die cut negative, the rest of the card is one-layer. I used only ink-blending and stamping on the white card base.

This card was partially inspired by the following card that I made in February of 2016. Slide002
