Hi! I’m here with a card inspired by several fun Fall Challenges.
I created the plaid background by first masking off the center third. Then, I repeatedly masked off the top and bottom third (taping over the masked-off center as well) and sponging on ink. I love using this technique.
I used ColourQ’s colors, but missed the link up! UGH.
Hi! I’m here with a card inspired by several fun Fall Challenges.
I created the plaid leaf by first sponging an ombre background (red to yellow from the stem to the leaf tip). Then I repeatedly masked off portions of the leaf and sponged on ink. I love using this technique.
I used a “Thankful” die from CUTplorations.
I sponged on a red band and attached the white panel to the orange cardstock.
I attached the leaf and the die cut with foam tape.
I really like this card. A plaid leaf!? Sponging, ink blending, lots of red (my favorite color to use when making cards), ombre Autumn colors? I don’t normally make the same card twice, but I may have to repeat this one. 🙂
Hi! Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I’m glad you’re here. I’m excited to be joining you today with my second post as a member of the AAA Cards Design Team!
You can see the unfinished bg paper in the photos below. I also added some Smooch Spritz in order to even out the background and to add a little bit of shimmer.
Here’s the second card:
I used the photo below as a guide when I colored in the leaves with my new ZIG Clean Color Real Brush watercolor markers. The sentiments are from the Penny Black Creative Dies, Words of Gratitude die set.
Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. Have you ever heard the song “Amazed”? Part of the lyrics say, “You dance over me, while I am unaware. You sing all around, but I never hear the sound.” That line reminds me of Autumn in Maine, the leaves falling all around on a sunshiny and breezy day. I miss Maine in the Autumn. Here are a couple of my father’s paintings of Fall in Maine.
And here’s a lyrics slideshow of the song “Amazed” sung by Lincoln Brewster. I hope you enjoy it and have a beautiful Fall day.
