AAA Cards Challenge #47: Spectacular Embossing & an Exciting Announcement

Well Hello! Thanks for visiting today. I’m so excited to have you here because I have a fun announcement to share with you. With this post, I have the honor & privilege of joining the ladies at AAA Cards as one of 3 new members of the AAA Cards Design Team!

AAA new DTThis week’s Challenge#47 is Spectacular Embossing.

Here’s my card:

IMG_0714cropsquare  I am truly “Giving Thanks” to the ladies at AAA Cards for inviting me to be part of their team! I had fun with this card and used a couple of my favorite techniques, sponging/ink-blending and emboss resist. I learned these techniques from Laura Bassen in her “Craftsy” class.

After stamping my image in VersaMark and heat embossing with clear embossing powder, I did some ink blending on top of the butterfly. I really enjoy using this stamp! The sentiment if from PTI’s Scripted stamp set. I highly recommend this set.

I’d like to play this card over at SSS’s Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes and Word Art Wednesday’s Challenge #198 – Anything Goes.

Please head over to AAA Cards and check out all of the superb creations by my new teammates. Thanks for stopping by for my debut post with the AAA Cards Design Team! I’m very happy that you did. 🙂 I hope that I helped to inspire you to play along with challenge #47.

XO

Peony

Wow! Have you seen the inspiring photos for PTI’s January Blog Hop!?

Isn’t this one lovely?

Beautiful little paper heartsI loved the soft blue, pinks and greens as well as the rose.

Here’s a card inspired by it.

IMG_9042editedI used PTI’s Peony Cover Plate Die to cut out a variety of layers of SU papers. Before I cut the papers I did some ink blending in order to make some different shades of the various colors. Per Laura Bassen’s advice in her Craftsy class, I bought a Quickstik tool. It is “rockin’ awesome” as she would say. 🙂 This card was a bit fussy, but it would have been infuriately tedious without the Quickstik. I highly recommend it.

Here’s another look at my card which I will be playing over at Uniko Studio’s Challenge #17: Love and Friendship.

Tartan Inky Background, A Masking Technique

Today I have a masculine tartan card to share with you.

It’s a pretty CAS card and I’m very happy with how it turned out.

CraftsyeditedtartanI used a masking technique that I learned in a class by Laura Bassen over at Craftsy. It’s a super class and I highly recommend it. This is a new technique for me and I think that I will be using it quite often. Laura is a super teacher. I would gladly take more classes from Laura. My daughters, ages 18, 12 and 10 give the class two thumbs up too. 🙂

The sentiment is from PTI’s “A Cheerful Heart” stamp sent. This is the first time that I’ve used this particular stamp from the set. So, I’ll be entering this into CAS-ology’s and Darnell’s NBUS challenges. I really like this stamp set. Like all of the PTI stamps I have, they are beautiful and wonderfully easy to use.

The design for this card was inspired by Michele’s sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch – #106. I’m having a lot of fun with this sketch! I am also playing along over at SSS’s Monday (Inky Background) and Wednesday (It’s a Guy Thing) Challenges.
