Happy Little Stampers Watercolor October – Gold

I’m very happy to be back with you for this month’s HLS Watercolor challenge.

Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE.

I have 2 cards to share with you today.

Here’s my first card using multiple HLS products, Brusho Watercolor Crystals and a gold glass pen.

To make this card:

  1. I made a stencil with a butterfly die and stamped in butterflies in the negative spaces of the stencil.
  2. Removed the stencil and masked off the stamped images.
  3. Sprinkled on red Brusho crystals.
  4. Spritzed with water.
  5. Allowed to the water dry and fussy cut the panel.
  6. Added some gold accents with the glass pen.
  7. Stamped, cut and added the sentiment.
  8. Assembled the card with foam tape and snail adhesive. Here’s card#2. Comparatively, it’s a very CAS (Clean and Simple) card. I used stamps from Doodled Flowers.

I hope that you enjoyed your visit.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Little Stampers February 2016 Mixed Media Challenge – Tear/Rip

Hi! I’m very happy to be here with you today with a card for Happy Little Stampers February 2017 Mixed Media Challenge.

Our  challenge:

Here’s my card.
img_5341_edited-1 Washi tape, stenciling, stamping, die cutting, sponging, and of course, tearing/ripping went into the making of this card.
I used Happy Little Stampers’ Butterfly Birthday and Butterfly Dies.
 Butterfly BirthdayButterfly Dies
This level of grungy mixed media is out of my normal comfort zone. I considered reworking it or ditching it all together. I showed it to my husband and told him what I was thinking.img_5326_edited-1
He gave me some advice,”Well, be honest. Share that this is not your favorite card or style. You don’t always have to love everything you do. Maybe it would be refreshing for someone to read that you are sharing something that you are not really super crazy about.”
So, here we are. Grunge Melissa-style. Hmmm. I’ve seen some people who do lovely work with this style, but it is not really my favorite. img_5321_edited-1
I stamped the butterflies in a dark brown. After waiting a while, apparently, not long enough, I added the white embossing paste stenciled hearts. The brown ink bled through and gave the hearts a dirty, grungy appearance. I’m not a big fan of that. This is what I would do differently next time.
Any advice? Will the ink bleed through no matter how long I wait?

AAA Cards Game #83 – Shape Your Love

I’m happy to be here today for AAA Cards Game #83-Shape Your Love .

Our inspirations photo:

I’d like to extend a big welcome to our Guest Designer, Sharon! – frommycraftdesk.blogspot.co.uk/ Make sure you check out her beautiful octagonally shaped card!

I have to say that I have combined some of my card-making favorites in this card today. The color red, butterflies, hearts, white space and die cutting/partial die cutting!

Here is my card.shapeyourlove8_edited-1

You can see that I “Shaped My Love” in several ways on this card.

I used a Happy Little Stampers Butterfly Die to create a mask and to do some partial die cutting.

Butterfly Dies

  1. I rounded the top left corner of my card.shapeyourlove5
  2. I added heart shapes to fill in the body of the butterfly. To accomplish this, I die cut some removable sticky label and masked off a butterfly and then stamped hearts in the negative area of the mask.shapeyourlove3_edited-1
  3.  Then, I double stamped (in red and then in black) over the hearts, and inside the mask, with one of the butterfly stamps from Butterfly Birthday.  Butterfly Birthday

4. I lightly inked up the butterfly stamp in red and stamped over the hearts.

5 . Then, I inked the edges of the stamp in black and stamped again.

6. Next, I partially die cut the butterfly.shapeyourlove4_edited-1

7. I stamped the sentiment with a stamp from HLS’ Thinking of You.
