Happy Birthday TIME OUT Challenges!

Hi! I’m here with a special post for Happy Little Stampers to celebrate Time Out Challenges’ birthday!

I used the “spotlight” technique. Maybe I should say “spotlights?”

I had fun creating my own background stamp using HLS’ Butterfly Birthday, Mix Mash and Doodled Flowers. img_6976edited_edited-2I adhered a bunch of stamps to my stamp press all at once, inked the stamps up with a dark brown ink and then stamped multiple panels.

I colored one panel with alcohol markers and then die cut several circles.img_6978edited_edited-2I attached the spotlights to the uncolored panel. I added a dark blue mat and a Kraft card base.

CASEing Kim for Time Out

Hi! I’m here with a  post of a card that I made by CASEing this terrific one by Kim.

Here’s Kim’s beautifully designed CAS card:

Here’s my definitely not CAS CASE of Kim’s card!slide001 slide002    I used the ARTplorations Stencil Big Bloom Factory on this card.

First, I reverse stenciled by inking up the stencil with a black ink pad. slide001Then I printed with the inked-up stencil. Then, I sponged on the red, blue, yellow and green inks. slide003Next, I traced over the printed outlines with a black alcohol marker to darken the printed image. slide003I added white highlights by doing some more tracing and drawing with a gel pen.

The sentiment is from STAMPlorations Big Greetings set.

Happy Birthday Sandie!

Hi! Today I’m here to wish Sandie from London Days a very Happy Birthday this week!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SANDIE!

I’m linking up with Kylie is Addicted to Stamps and Time Out who are both hosting a birthday link up for Sandie.

Here’s the card I made for Sandie:

Seeing her love for purple, I thought I’d use one of my own photos, printed on card stock, for Sandie’s card. This is a photo I took outside my kitchen door in Belgium 3 years ago. The lavender was beautiful, fragrant and an absolute hedge! The Bumble Bees and Honey Bees adored it.IMG_7859edited

I used an intricate die cut from PTI to emboss the frame. First I used the die to cut out the cs and then I used the die cut paper itself as an embossing folder of sorts. Have you ever done that? It’s super fun! 🙂IMG_7562edited

I mounted the image on the back of the frame and popped it up with foam tape to add some dimension. The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from Happy Little Stampers – Fun Birthday Sentiments.

Sandie, I hope you have a lovely birthday week and feel loved from across the miles. I pray that God will bless you richly with abundant JOY in the year to come!

Thanks for stopping by!

MMCC August 2015 Challenge #14 – Butterflies – Reminder

Hi! I’m back with a reminder post and 2 cards for this month’s MMCC #13. This month’s theme: Butterflies with an optional element: gold.

Here’s the August Challenge graphic:

Butterflies!? Yes, I have to admit, I have a thing for butterfly stamps, punches, dies and stencils. This may be honeybeelane’s blog, but Honeybee has a crush on butterflies. 🙂 You can check out the other butterflies by clicking the tab entitled “Honeybee love butterflies” at the top of the blog.

For this post I have 2 different cards with an Artplorations Stencil and a Stamplorations Stamp set, some ink blending, homemade embossing paste and gold embossing powder. First, I sponged some different yellow inks onto water color paper.

Then I trimmed the water color paper into 3 pieces. I placed the stencil onto the paper, applied the embossing paste and then let it dry. Then, I replaced the stencil and stamped VersaMark onto the embossing paste. I removed the stencil and added the gold embossing powder and heat embossed.

IMG_6270editedI’m going to play this first card over at Time Out’s Challenge #37: Friendship is Golden.

Next I stamped the butterflies into place.

I die cut, trimmed and punched the respective cards and added the different sentiments.

Yes, lots more “out of my comfort zone” with these babies! The colors, the stencil with embossing paste, the non-CASishness of these all….Phew. I had lots of fun though. 🙂

So! I hope that I have inspired you to play along with this month’s challenge.

HOW TO PLAY
1. Create a mixed media CARD based on the theme, with or without the optional element.
2. Display the challenge graphic on your blog post and link back to this challenge post.

Square Butterfly Birthday

So! I have another square butterfly card to share with you today. I’m excited to share this card with you because I used a brand new stamp set from Happy Little Stampers 1rst stamp release!IMG_9641edited

I like to make my own stencils and then re-purpose the stencil for a second card. This card re-uses the stencil which I used to make this other card.

IMG_9567editedIMG_9615edited_edited-1

I masked off the card front and applied VersaMark with my ink pad. Then I added the gold embossing powder. I created some bg paper by sponging SU’s Real Red, Melon Mambo & Rich Razzleberry.  I stamped the butterflies in VersaMark and then heat embossed in gold.

IMG_9606edited_edited-1 IMG_9614edited2  IMG_9661edited IMG_9663edited

I embellished this card with lots of gold embossing powder and one of the fussy cut butterflies.

I’m going to play this card at Casology’s Week 158: PreciousTime Out’s Challenge #37: Friendship is Golden and Virginia’s View Challenge #17: Embellishments.

IMG_9645editedI’m also going to play along at LIM’s Week 235 Color Challenge: Berry Shades and  WAW’s Challenge #195.IMG_9571edited

    Here’s the stamp set:

Butterfly Birthday

I had fun playing with this stamp set this afternoon. I made 3 other cards with it. Here’s one. All of them will be hanging out in the Butterfly Conservatory soon.
