CAS Lighthouse Birthday

Hi! I’m back today with another card just for fun! Yay!

This one is very different from my last 3 cards which were decidedly not CAS!

img_1814_edited-1When I saw CASology’s Cue Word I knew that I had to play along. I love the beach! img_1037_edited-1In fact, my family and I just returned from a vacation where I did a lot of beach combing.

img_0231edited_edited-2

(Some Fish n Chips suppers may have been consumed too!) Did you see my pre-vacation CASology Featured Designer post?

Here’s a peek at one of the “beachy” cards  shared over there:

img_0225edited_edited-2Before card-making, came beach combing. It will always be among my hobby “first loves.” I love the “broken but beautiful” illustrations of sea glass.

img_1043_edited-1img_1051edited_edited-2Back to my card!

The colors on this card (plus a couple more) and some of the design (all of the white and the sentiment) were inspired by Anita’s lovely card for Muse,

the theme was inspired by CASology’s “Beach” cue card

img_1825_edited-1and the layout was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches. img_1827edited_edited-1

Would you like a closer look at my beach combing collection from England and Scotland? I love the rainbow of colors that you can find on the shore. 🙂img_1062edited_edited-2img_1061edited_edited-2

You can click on the photo below to see a larger version.

img_1745edited_edited-2I’ve loved beach combing for as long as I can remember, but I’ve collected all of this particular bunch over the past 8 years. img_1739edited_edited-2Most of it is from my mother’s hometown on the West Coast of Scotland. img_1757edited_edited-2img_0726edited_edited-2img_1749edited_edited-2Some is from Seaham, England and some is from the Kent area (Isle of Thanet) of England. I found the box (shelf) in a local thrift store after returning from my family’s vacation this past August. The box is perfect for displaying most of my British beach collection. I love it!

Here’s one last look at my card.

img_1817edited_edited-2

I do have other collections of beach treasures from other parts of the world, but this box now contains the majority of my U.K. treasures. img_1755editedMaybe I’ll share more of my beach finds in another post. I several other collections, some have RED pieces, doll heads and variety of other exciting finds. For now,  I hope that you have enjoyed my rainbow of beach beauty.img_1056_edited-1Thanks for stopping by!

Grace & Peace,
Melissa

P.S. Speaking of rainbows….here are some of my recent bright and non-CAS cards! You can click on the photo to be taken to the individual posts. 🙂

Good Tidings of Great Joy

CASology Cue Word for Week 141 is “News.” I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get tired of the “news”. When I saw the cue word though, what popped into my mind was how I love goods news! Speaking of good news, I can’t imagine being in the fields outside Bethlehem when the angels announced the birth of the long-awaited Messiah, Jesus.

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Here is another card that I made using one of those verses.

The angel’s news report:

IMG_3162edited

I used PTI’s  Silent night stamp set for this card. I’m playing this over at CASology for their cue word: NEWS and at Merry Monday: Angels. While I don’t have an angel stamp to use, I hope that the angel’s announcement will count for the theme of this week’s challenge. I am also playing this over at Freshly Made Sketches #181 – A Sketch by Jen M.

I made 3 different versions of this card and will be playing them in various places. Look here and here for the other two.

He is Risen

So, I made quite a few background papers today and here I have a card using some.

IMG_2522I’m really enjoying Laura Bassen’s “smooshing” technique. You can see some other cards that I made using this technique here, here and here. The stamps are from PTI’s Easter Alleluia’s Stamp Set. I very much appreciate Betsy Veldman, who designed this stamp set.

I’m going to play this over at AAA CAS Card Challenges Game #36 Easter Colors .

And at Freshly Made Sketches #179 – A Sketch by Amy. I’m also playing over at ATSM’s Make Your Mark Challenge. I am also going to play over at Word Art Wednesday #176. I’m also playing over at Less is More Week 217: Combine 3 Challenges. Week 3: Spring, Week 29: Things that Move (I was thinking about Jesus and how he rose from the grave and also how the stone was rolled away! He moved out of the tomb!), and Week 177:Watercolor, this card could also qualify for Week 170 Colour Challenge: Three Colours. Pink, purple and orange.

Thanks for stopping by!

Luke 24 (NKJV)

He Is Risen

24 Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!

Edited Sat April 4: I’m happy to share that this card was randomly selected for a prize by Word Art Wednesday for their Challenge 176 : Anything goes. This prize is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. Thank you so much! 🙂
