Hi! I’m happy to be here today with a post for AAA Cards’ big blog hop and Game #91 – 3rd Birthday.
We have a treasure hunt going on! The idea is that each of the design team members and guest designers have placed a given number somewhere within our individual birthday blog posts. The players (you) will need to find all six DT numbers, total them up and then email your answer to aaacardchallenge@gmail.com.
We’ve got lots of great sponsors for our celebration.
AAA Cards is a bi-weekly challenge blog for Clean and Simple (CAS) Cards. Unless otherwise stated in the blog post for a particular challenge only players who submit cards will be eligible to be a winner.
Here’s my card using Happy Little Stampers Mix Mash. I stamped in embossing ink, heat embossed in white and colored with watercolor pencils.
I made six of these cards, in a variety of colors.
My question:
I hope that you are inspired to play along.
Make sure you stop by AAA Cards and visit all of the design team members’ blogs.
Thanks for stopping by!
Grace & Peace,
Melissa

The definition of ‘White Space’ on the AAA challenge blog – ‘White’ space means an area of your card with nothing on it at all. It doesn’t have to be ‘white’. It could be brown or pink or red, but NOT patterned, embossed or textured. Any colour as long as there is EMPTY SPACE.

Happy belated wedding anniversary Melissa, that is such a lovely song to dedicate to your husband, I listened to it while writing this and my eyes went a little blurry…
Back to your card, love all the colour variations of your circles which just pops on the black card, which is also considered as “white space” in AAA’s definition, which could be any colour, as long as there is nothing else on it.

Really great cards – I love how the colours pop against the dark background. AAA challenge blog defines ‘white space’ as empty space, regardless of colour. Just a plain, unadorned area. A great way to make the focal part of the card pop by not having the card be too busy 🙂
This was a great question – a good way to remind us all of the rules 😉

Brilliant use of that stamp set Melissa! I have that one but have got stuck in a bokeh technique rut, so seeing your cards has been a great inspiration. Love the vibrancy of the colours and the super-crisp embossing. Congrats on the AAA Cards birthday too. Ok. AAA Cards definition of ‘white space’ is: and area on a card with absolutely nothing on it – completely empty space ( I would underline those 3 words if I could) with no pattern, embossing or texture. The ‘white space’ can be any colour; it doesn’t have to be white.

Great set of cards to have on hand. Or to give as a gift!
White space on a CAS card is simply blank space; no embellishment.

Congratulations on your anniversary! That’s certainly an achievement worth celebrating. Your card is stunning too. I like the bold colors and the layout design. White space, to me, means ’empty’… sort of like breathing room on the card. White space allows the eye to focus on the image.

Happy Anniversary, dear Melissa! I am always amazed how many versions of one card you can make. This set of cards is just great! My answer to your question: frankly, I do not care about the white space for CAS cards. I would say that a strong focal element is more important. If I could go for hard CAS as I call it, I would always stop with just one-two impressions on my card, but it does not appeal to majority. So I am trying to find a balance between my taste and what people like 😉 Have a great day!

Happy Anniversary to you.. And many more! I loved your cards and when I saw your card.. I actually was reminded of what Jane had explained to me what a CAS card was.. that’ll also answer your question! Empty unpatterned space, without many layers and lots of open space! But black is doing magic.. So uncommon too!
