Bokeh Hearty Leafy Hugs

Hi! I’m excited to share this card with you today!

img_3259edited

Here’s a photo to give you an idea of how I used a homemade leaf stencil (made with a Papertrey Ink Grateful Leaf Die) to achieve the hearty bokeh effect.img_3252edited

img_3257edited

Did you know that hugs truly are good for your health? Look it up!

img_3281edited

I removed the stencil/mask and added some yellow hearts around the edges of the leaf.

img_3256edited

I added 1 paper and 1 vellum leaf outline and hugs (CUTplorations) die cut.

img_3292edited

I offset the die cuts so that the stem and an outline of the leaf would show.

img_3286edited    I like how the vellum adds an airy, leaves blowing in the wind, effect.img_3280edited

Love you so birdy much

Hi! I’m here today with a quick and fun card. I inked up some NBUS (So Tweet) that I won from W&W at the Fall Coffee Lovers’ Blog Hop! This is such a cute set. I know that you’re going to love it.

img_3215edited

So many cute images to play with! My daughters are all waiting to have a turn with these.

My thanks to Winnie & Walter and Amy & the team at the CLBH.

img_3236edited

I did some masking and used my Stampin’ Write markers to color ink the stamped images.img_3241edited

My design was inspired by CTS #195 and the theme was inspired by CASology’s Week 221, Cue Word: Cure.

Stencil Sunday – Friendship Canvas – October 23, 2016

Hi! I’m here with a post for today’s STAMPlorations’ Stencil Sunday for October 23.

I have my first ever mixed media canvas to share with you today. slide2   To make this canvas, I used a variety of ARTplorations stencils and a wide variety of techniques and mediums too.  This is a photo of my friend, Cindy, and I last Spring when she came to visit me.

I started working on this canvas months ago and set it aside because I just could not get it to work out the way I wanted it too. I don’t seem to have a good photo of the original try, but you can see it in the top left corner of the photo below:

slide3Originally, I had used blues and greens and lots of white and had stamped a sentiment and some butterflies and stenciled some hearts too. The cool colors did not make me happy. Also, I had used a smaller version of the photo and had adhered it directly onto the canvas. I had stamped a sentiment over the edge of the photo and, anyhow, I did not like the results. So I picked it up again recently and reworked the colors to compliment the tulips in the photograph. slide5I added some more texture with heat embossing and embossing paste.slide3The ARTplorations stencils,  Retro Circles, Dots All Over, which I used on this are all beautiful and fun to play with. I also used some STAMPlorations stamps (Framed Tea Cups and Big Bloom Factory(fussy cut the flowers)) and the CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies.

Cindy and I love tea and have enjoyed having tea together at our houses. Can you see the Framed tea Cups? I stamped them on either side of the framed photo.

Now, I’m quite pleased with the results.

Some stamping, a little fussy cutting and some foam tape attaching the panel onto the dark blue card. I bought this fabulous dark blue cardstock at a great shop in my mother’s hometown of Dunoon, Scotland. I’d like to thank Valerie of Coleman Cards & Crafts for the excellent selection of lovely heavyweight cardstock that she keeps in stock.
