Flower in the Middle – A Butterfly Dance

Today I have a pretty purple and yellow card to share with you.

Lots of shapes, some punching, a little die-cutting and only 2 colors went into the making of this CAS butterfly dance. I used a SU flower stamp, flower punch, some PTI stamps and a several ink brands.

IMG_4478editedI started by stamping several flowers in Elegant Eggplant and then added clear embossing powder and heat set them. Then I used an emboss resist technique to sponge on the Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade over the stamped/embossed flowers. Then I punched out a flower and set it aside.

For the card front, I created a circle mask with Scotch Masking Tape, adhered the circle to the front panel and then stamped the butterflies around the circle. I added some detail to the yellow butterflies with a SU marker.

I used a circle die to cut the center out and then punched a flower in the middle of the die cut white circle. I added a thin line of eggplant ink around the edge of the white circle by running the edge on the eggplant ink pad. Next, I popped up the circle and the panel with foam tape and adhered the flower with Tombow Mono adhesive to the card base.

I stamped the sentiment on a piece of the left over lemonade blended paper and then trimmed it and added the sentiment strip with more foam tape. The butterfly stamp is from PTI/Betsy Veldman’s Make It Market Mini: Clipsters Kit.

I was inspired by LIM’s: Opposite Colors on the Color Wheel, Casology’s Cue Word: Shape and HLS’s CAS Challenge:Die Cuts and Punches.
