Tartan Inky Background, A Masking Technique

Today I have a masculine tartan card to share with you.

It’s a pretty CAS card and I’m very happy with how it turned out.

CraftsyeditedtartanI used a masking technique that I learned in a class by Laura Bassen over at Craftsy. It’s a super class and I highly recommend it. This is a new technique for me and I think that I will be using it quite often. Laura is a super teacher. I would gladly take more classes from Laura. My daughters, ages 18, 12 and 10 give the class two thumbs up too. 🙂

The sentiment is from PTI’s “A Cheerful Heart” stamp sent. This is the first time that I’ve used this particular stamp from the set. So, I’ll be entering this into CAS-ology’s and Darnell’s NBUS challenges. I really like this stamp set. Like all of the PTI stamps I have, they are beautiful and wonderfully easy to use.

The design for this card was inspired by Michele’s sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch – #106. I’m having a lot of fun with this sketch! I am also playing along over at SSS’s Monday (Inky Background) and Wednesday (It’s a Guy Thing) Challenges.

Here’s another look at my card.

P.S. I was so happy to be chosen for an Honorable Mention for this card!

  2. I absolutely LOVE the plaid design that you created! Laura’s work is always so inspiring, isn’t she? The pair-up of plaid with this Bible verse is really awesome! Thanks so much for playing Simon Says Stamp Wednesday “It’s a Guy Thing” Challenge!
