Thankful Pink(ed) Heart

Hi!

Today I’m excited to share another card with you. This post is dedicated to a special friend. She’ll know who she is by the top photo! Love you lady!

I had a lot of fun making this card. I’ve been on a pink heart kick…..not sure why!?IMG_8718edited       But it sure fits in nicely with this week’s Muse challenge! Not as CAS as Michele’s, but the pink hearts and the die cuts remind me a bit of her lovely card.

Here’s another look at my card.
If you play at CAS(E) this Sketch! you might recognize the layout. More on that later!

I used my new mini ink blenders and some new Tim Hotlz Distress Ink for CASology’s (NBUS) to create a pink ombre background paper and then used PTI’s Heart Cover Plate Die to cut out the little pink hearts. I also used the cover plate to make the white layer. I made the pinked frame with some more of the pink ombre background paper cut out with an Avery Elle Pinked ELLE-ments die along with a Spellbinders Rectangle die.

I added a homemade foam heart sticker for MIM’s #197, made with some more of the ombre paper and some foam core board. I cut the hearts out with my Sizzix Framelits Hearts.

The 4 Challenges I’m playing in:

Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)

The funny thing is I missed the deadline for the challenge which inspired the layout for my card! Funny?! Honestly I was quite irritated with myself. Anyway……I think I need to get my act together!

Here’s the sketch from CAS(E) this sketch #105:

….the one that got away! I’m going to try again this week though. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Thanks, Darnell! You sure are an encourager! I really appreciate your kind words. 🙂 I will check out the challenge. I’m wondering if the CAS-ology & Muse challenges have a limit to the number of other challenges you can combine with. I’ll have to check!

  2. What a lucky friend to receive this gorgeous thank you Valentine from you, Melissa! Your execution is really flawless and I love your interpretation of the sketch that got away! I do know of a challenge you can enter in place of the CTS challenge: over at Inkspiration they are having an ombre challenge, which you rocked! Inkspirationalchallenges.blogspot.co.uk. Thank you so much for linking up to the joint CASology and NBUS challenges! I’m off to check out your Dad’s other incredible art work!! Hugs, Darnell

  3. If it’s any consolation Melissa, I have also missed the deadline for CTS on a couple of occasions. The good news is that it inspired a gorgeous layout! Beautiful inking and very pretty card that your friend will be undeniably thrilled to receive! Thanks so much for joining us at CASology this week!
